This is a twice-weekly percussion class ($20) plus a monthly "workshop meetup" ($5) at the 18th Street Arts Center in Santa Monica to sing, play, and enjoy Brazilian music (samba pagode, chorinho, bossa nova, forro, batucada, samba reggae, and more!), led by Carlinhos Pandeiro de Ouro of the Mangueira samba school in Rio, and known around the world as one of the great Brazilian percussionists. If you play any instrument, or like to sing, please come and enjoy the music.
Every Sunday at 4PM, and on Tuesday evenings at 7:30PM, we meet at the 18th Street Arts Center for our regular Brazilian percussion class, which is $20. This is focused instruction on pandeiro, tamborim, tan-tan, caxixi, surdo, agogo, and other key instruments.
Students get a solid grounding in percussion techniques, a better understanding of Brazilian musical forms, and you'll meet other local fans of Brazilian music. All those who share a love for the music of Brazil are welcome!
This group doesn't have any additional upcoming Meetups scheduled.
